Major Moscow's Assaults Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing penalties," he wrote in a online statement.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults follow periods of air raids in the region, portions of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated technical personnel and officials were preparing for further attacks.
